Exhibit 10 - 3D in Photoshop
Design Thoughts:
I wanted to use Photoshop to create 3D lettering.
I wanted to use Photoshop to create 3D lettering.
- Contrast: Contrast is created with the 3D lettering and the backgrouns because of the shadows, texture, and beveling of the text. The smaller text on the bottom right is a light blue color, creating contrast with the darker background.
- Repetition: The same texture is repeated on all edges of the 3D letters. The color of the 3D text is the same as some of the colors in background image. The color of the smaller text is the same as the the sky from the background image.
- Alignment: The text on the bottom left aligns with the bottom edge of the 3D letters.
- Proximity: All of the information about the park is bundled together in close proximity.
- Color: The colors of the 3D letters and the smaller text are the same as colors from the background image.
- Typography: Two different fonts were used. The informational text was small and needed to be in a simple, easy-to-read text. The 3D letters needed to be bold and different from the basic lettering.
- The Eyedropper tool was used to get the colors for the text. The small lettering is the same as a blue hue from the sky, and the 3D letters are the same as some of the rock color.
- The leading of the text on the 3D letters had to be increased significantly to push them closer together vertically.
- A new 3D Extrusion was created from the text layer.
- The Image Based Light Intensity was increased.
- The Extrusion depth of the 3D letters was decreased.
- A Bevel was added to the 3D letters to make them stand out more.
- Texture was added as a Bump on the Front Inflation Material.
- The Material EyeDropper and Material Drop tools were used to repeat the same texture on the Front Bevel, Extrusion, and Back Inflation Material of the 3D letters.
