- Contrast: The white test creates contrast with all off the colors behind it. The text also has a drop shadow and a bevel added to create more contrast.
- Repetition: The same hexagon pattern is repeated throughout the image, which also creates a pattern with triangles.
- Alignment: The hexagon shapes are all aligned in rows, and guide lines were used to align the hexagons vertically and horizontally.
- Proximity: The text is located in the center of the image to draw the attention there.
- Color: Many colors from different palettes were used to show the diversity of nature. The background image is all one color to create a balance with the other colors used.
- Typography: Only one font was used for emphasis.
- Guide lines were used to make sure that everything was aligned.
- The Custom Shape tool was used to create all of the hexagons.
- Clipping masks were used for each hexagon so that the image was only visible in the hexagon.
- The Bevel & Emboss and Drop Shadow Layer Styles were used on the text to make it stand out from the background.
- A Levels Adjustment layer was used to enhance the colors.
